For me, FreeByMaria began long before there was a product.

I know what it feels like to postpone a gynecological examination because the thought of lying in that chair feels too vulnerable and exposing. I had done it myself.

Then women’s health became deeply personal in another way.

My mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Through years of treatment and uncertainty, and eventually losing her in April 2020, I saw just how important it is that women listen to their bodies and seek medical care when they need it.

Before she passed away, I had the chance to tell her about my idea for FreeByMaria.

She believed in it.

She told me it was a good idea because going for check-ups is important — and because cancer can affect women of all ages.

Those words stayed with me.

I wanted to create something that could make one vulnerable moment feel just a little more comfortable, private and dignified.

That idea became FreeByMaria. ❤️
